
About Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to award $1,000 to a rising senior or senior in high school, classically trained, who can also play other genres of music and wants to entertain, teach, perform, and volunteer. The applicant has a passion for music and aims to share it.
Scholarship Awarded by the Chicago Federation of Musicians
The live competition will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Chicago Federation of Musicians hall in Chicago, located in downtown, Chicago. Details of timing and location will be provided to the selected applicants at a later date.
The applicant should be prepared to play a short classical piece as well as a piece of music from a different genre, which can be a ballad, a show tune, ragtime, or any short selection that demonstrates piano technique and artistry. Performing by memory is required for the pre-competition as well as for the live audition. The applicant will be judged on rapport with the audience as well as on their performance.
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must:

Submit a video recording of one classical piece (baroque, classical, romantic or contemporary period)

Submit a letter of recommendation
The deadline for submission of all materials - completed application, letter of recommendation, video-is Friday, April 14, 2023, by midnight.
